‘The Anthony Wilding Story’ is an award-winning tale based on the life of four-time Wimbledon champion and Kiwi sporting icon Anthony Wilding. This dynamic, entertaining and emotional production goes beyond Wilding’s sporting life and reveals a truly fascinating New Zealander.
Born and raised in Christchurch he cut his teeth on the sporting fields of Canterbury before heading overseas to take on the world. 2016 marks 106 years since Wilding first won Wimbledon. Share the triumphs and tragedies of Anthony Wilding in this unique theatrical production. The show has been toured extensively around New Zealand and was performed at Wimbledon in 2004.
This special performance is to raise funds for the Class 12 Cultural and Social Service Trip is to Thailand. Students will be volunteering with two great organisations. Firstly, they will be at the Koung Jor Shan Refugee Camp which aids displaced ethnic Shan (www.thebranchfoundation.org).
Secondly, they will volunteer at the Elephant Nature Park (www.elephantnaturepark.org). This project supports elephants living free in their homelands, improving local community living working together with the local community while living in a cultural exchange in a mountain village.
