CLASS 12 PLAY: Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead - Thurs & Fri 7.30pm
Class 12 are set to perform Tom Stoppard’s well known classic, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead.
The Class 12 Play is one of the climaxes of the pupils’ Waldorf journey, and seeks to be a public occasion that for them is a distinctive and significant experience, and for the audience a genuine amateur theatre experience.
In this play, Stoppard takes two minor characters from Shakespeare’s ‘Hamlet’, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern, and makes them the key character focus of a play that remains authentically Elizabethan in its setting, but in which they face 20th century existential crises at every turn.
Stoppard’s intellectual virtuosity and dazzling wit are to the fore!
Critically acclaimed, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead won the Tony Award for Best Play in 1968.
