'Living' in Auckland - Searching the Heavens, Treading the Earth: Titirangi, Saturday 12th March 10am-5pm
Rudolf Steiner was born in Kraljevec in Austria on February 27th 1861 and in 2011, 150 years after his birth, various events and acknowledgement of his unique gifts to the world are taking place in Auckland and throughout the world.
‘Living in Auckland’ – Searching The Heavens, Treading The Earth will provide the opportunity on two separate days for anyone to find out more and experience all that ‘lives’ in the City of Sails out of the indications of Rudolf Steiner.
March 12th Titirangi Rudolf Steiner School in Helios Place, Titirangi.
April 2nd Michael Park School at 55 Amy Street, Ellerslie.
Rudolf Steiner founded the General Anthroposophical Society in 1924 which now has branches worldwide including in Auckland. He worked intensively to develop a new world view based on his spiritual researches. And it was from this research that he was able to provide indications in many areas of human activity, including education; there are currently ten Waldorf/Rudolf Steiner Schools and fifteen kindergartens in New Zealand. His new developments in agriculture, Biodynamics, continue to attract an increasing number of farmers, orchardists, wine growers and home gardeners. And a genuinely holistic medicine, together with many indications in economics, philosophy, special education, science, the arts, religion and the new art of eurythmy are part of daily life for many people today.
During his lifetime Steiner wrote around 30 books and delivered over 6,000 lectures to audiences across Europe detailing the results of his spiritual scientific researches and a phenomenological approach towards an understanding of the spirit. The relationship between the human being and the cosmos were a primary focus which has resulted in a multi-faceted and innovative approach to modern life which is even more applicable for life in the 21st century.
Throughout both these days there will be a Dr Hauschka skincare and cosmetics display and anthroposophical nursing treatments – including footbaths and simple home remedies for common ailments available along with taster workshops in biodynamic gardening, art, eurythmy and biography work (a personal development work).
Weleda medicines, Ceres Organics and Ceres Books; doctors; therapists; artists; Hohepa – a residential facility for people with a disability; Tempera – an art therapy training; and the Movement for Religious Renewal will all be represented.
You will be able to find out about Rudolf Steiner, Waldorf (Steiner) education, anthroposophy and more with a range of short talks.
Plus, there will also be:
- an art exhibition
- activities for children
- a crèche for the very young
- all-day café
So come and join us on one of these days and explore the innovative fruits of Rudolf Steiner’s work in 2011 that continue to influence today’s mainstream and offer the potential for dealing with the important questions of our time.
