We are seeking a creative and engaging Class 1 teacher for 2025, with a deep interest and experience in Steiner/Waldorf education. Ideally, this teacher will stay with the class throughout their school journey through to Class 7 or 8 (Year 8 or 9).
Our ideal applicant will be strong both academically and artistically and have a high level of expertise in meeting the needs of a diverse range of learners. They will be able to foster a love of learning in children and create a positive and healthy social dynamic within the class according to the Waldorf approach to child development as this group of children journey from Class 1 to Class 8.

Our ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic middle school (for ages 11-14 years) generalist or specialist teacher with expertise in meeting the needs of a diverse range of learners. The Titirangi Rudolf Steiner School is welcoming applications for a Community Development Coordinator (CDC) with the enthusiasm and drive to cultivate and nurture our community, supporting Aotearoa New Zealand’s only independent Steiner school from Playgroup to Upper School in Auckland’s Waitākere Ranges. You care about collaboration, shared responsibility and the conscious development of human relationships through an Anthroposophical understanding of social renewal.
We are looking for someone to start in a part-time capacity, who is proactive and flexible about adapting to the role in collaboration with the Operations Manager and Waldorf Education Leader as needed.
The Community Development Coordinator will support the school’s financial sustainability by helping generate, implement and oversee fundraising efforts for our school including strategic community engagement, fundraising events and campaigns, grant writing, donor relations, and connecting with our alumni networks. The CDC is also responsible for fostering a strong and supportive school community within, serving as a liaison to the parent community and parent-led initiatives, helping to promote community building activities, and fostering a greater understanding of Waldorf education principles within the school and with the greater West Auckland community.

Required and Preferred Skills, Abilities, and Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree preferably in education, communications, non-profit or school administration and/or a related field is required; an equivalent amount of relevant experience or training can be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.
A minimum of three years of professional experience in community engagement, philanthropy, fundraising, grant writing, coordinating with capital campaigns, and donor management is required; Knowledge, experience or insight into non-profits, education, or Waldorf education in particular is preferred.
Expertise in creating engaging social media content that improves the school’s online presence, and experience with implementing tools and strategies to measure and monitor online engagement with local and global communities.
Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills as well as a proven ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels
A convening ability to bring together a wide and diverse community of speakers, leaders, partners and supporters of this school
Proven ability to set out and achieve targets.
Demonstrate alignment and commitment to the schools’ values and aspirations.
Basic understanding of Waldorf education is required to perform this role, but this can be acquired with an open-minded curiosity and enthusiastic dedication to learning. A willingness to promote, understand, and embrace Waldorf education and Titirangi Rudolf Steiner School among the community is required.
Te Tiriti o Waitangi – Encourage conditions for the incorporation of te ao Māori into the life of our kura (school) by encouraging te reo to be seen, read, heard and spoken and upholding tikanga Māori at our kura.
Experience with standard office equipment and software is required (Google suite and WordPress); experience with volunteer and donation software is preferred. Professional development funding or paid time is available to learn new software systems, but candidates should have experience in efficiently using software (including spreadsheets and databases) and have an interest in cultivating their technical skills in online fundraising and internet research.
Ability to pass a background check is required and any relevant checks through the Ministry of Education.
An ideal candidate would be familiar with our school and the community it is nested in, has the ability to think creatively and strategically about how to meet the current year’s fundraising goals (short term goals) and how to meet the long term goals of the strategic plan. This candidate has strong organisational and time management skills, is able to work independently with self-motivation and initiative, has excellent interpersonal skills, and has a commitment to advancing diversity, equity, inclusion and justice within the organisation and as part of the position.
Hours and Schedule: At least 0.6FTE, year-round position with some evenings and weekends related to supporting festivals, events, and outreach events. Some regular or flexible remote work may be possible, but a majority of the time is expected to be spent on location.
