Nursery is a beautiful environment for pre-kindergarten children aged from 3 years until around their 4th birthday (when they move on to Kindergarten). It is designed to meet the changing needs of our community, providing a nurturing environment for young children and supporting parents with a further option to Play Group.

Children are able to attend a minimum of two consecutive days per week and up to a maximum of five days if necessary. Our preference is for three consecutive days to enable children to settle into a healthy rhythm and still have plenty of time in their own home.

Nursery has two very experienced teachers who strive to provide a home away from home atmosphere for the children. The rhythm and activities are similar to Kindergarten with some adjustments for their younger ages.

Children are able to help with baking buns for morning tea every day and other activities throughout the week include drawing, painting, beeswax modeling and eurythmy. Seasonal activities, festivals and birthdays are all encompassed within the yearly rhythm.

Due to their younger ages, teachers are more involved with the play than in Kindergarten, and assist in setting up play situations, as the children learn about being with other children, playing and sharing together.

There is plenty of free play, including outside play in their own fully fenced garden and sandpit area.

A short fifteen minute rest follows outside play, bringing a relaxed mood before a morning circle of song and verse. The morning ends with a puppet play story.

Nursery hours are Monday to Friday 8.45am – 12.45pm.

There is no afternoon session for Nursery.
Maximum of fifteen children per day.

Open Afternoons Kindergarten and Nursery Open Afternoons are held periodically. Please contact the school office: 817-4386 for the next scheduled Open Afternoon. It is also possible to meet with the Nursery Teacher after 12.45pm by contacting the school office.

Note: Nursery does have a waiting list and consequently you are advised to pre-enrol early.
